Herbaceous Perennial. Common name is ‘Brazilian Rhubarb’.

Huge, mad leaves require moist/boggy soil as they transpire large quantities of water in summer.

Flowers June to October, although flower spike is dramatic, flowers are insignificant.

The Gunnera’s are covered up for winter with the old leaves and when they are removed  at the end of March – it’s like watching a firework as the stems achieve 7 or 8 ft  with a similar sized leaf in a matter of weeks.
